Serhiy Bohachuk (25-2, 24 KOs) looked strong submitting Ismael Davis (13-2, 6 KOs) in a sixth-round TKO of his WBC junior middleweight title last Saturday night in Riyadh.

Show the power of Bohachok

The fight was stopped after the sixth round by referee Hector Avo after Davis' corner chose to stop the contest. With the hard shots Bohachuk landed in the fifth and sixth rounds, Davis wouldn't have made it to the seventh round without being eliminated. The official stoppage time was 3:00 of the sixth round.

Through four rounds, the fight was competitive at times, with Ismael having brief moments but mostly being beaten royally by Bohachuk. In the fifth and sixth games, it was a one-sided affair as Ukrainian Bohachuk beat Davis from mid-range and close range.

Bohachuk vs. Davis Bunch Statistics

– Ishmael Davis: 65 of 223 punches, 29.1%.
– Serhiy Bohachuk: 135 out of 414, 32.6%.

Most of Bohachuk's shots that landed in the fight were power jabs, which explains why he quickly overpowered Davis to get his stoppage in the sixth round. Bohachuk connected 108 power punches and 27 of the 414 punches he threw in the fight. He had excellent accuracy with his powerful punches, landing 41.1% of them. That's a lot of numbers for a fighter with Bohachuk's power.

Davis excelled

Surprisingly, Davis thought he could fight Serhii from within. What a mistake. Bohhachuk's short punches are similar to the shots thrown by light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev. They don't seem to be strong, but they do damage. It was interesting that Davis didn't try to adapt by walking away, but maybe it didn't matter.

Davis' promoter, Eddie Hearn, looked sombre in the crowd after watching him go down with a left hook from Bohachuk in the second round. Ismail, 29, fought well in the first round, landing a right hand that momentarily backed former WBC interim 154-pound champion Bohachuk.

Davis nailed Bohachuk with a right hand in the fourth round, but it wasn't enough to stop him. Serhiy continued to pressure him, hitting him with powerful punches and not allowing him to have a rest between attacks.

Davis' movement wasn't nearly enough to keep Bohachuk from cutting off the ring and continuing to hit him with GGG's powerful chopping shots. The punches were not delivered very quickly, but they were tiring Ismail.

Bohachuk is now WBC mandatory for 154lb champion Sebastian 'The Towering Inferno' Fundora. He won't get the title anytime soon, unfortunately. Fundora will defend against Errol Spence next, and may choose to fight someone else next in a money fight, such as Terence Crawford.

The interesting fight I'd like to see is against Bohachuk Jaron “Boots” Ennis. However, given Potts' decision to stay at welterweight to try and unify the division, he will likely turn down a serious fight against Bohachuk, regardless of how much money Turki Al Sheikh offers him. It will be interesting to see how Ennis trades heavy blows against Bohachuk.

With Jaron's porous defense, Bohachuk will have a field day against him, landing at will and having an easier time than he did against Davis. The shoes are promoted by Hearn. He would probably resist the idea of Ennis fighting Bohachuk, knowing that it wouldn't end well for him.
