Robin Uthappa, director of Bengaluru-based Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, has been given time till December 27 to pay the dues amounting to around Rs 24 lakh, or face arrest. He was accused of deducting savings funds from his employees' salaries and not depositing the money into his employees' accounts.

However, under immense pressure, the former batsman has now issued an official statement.
Robin Uthappa revealed that he was appointed director of the companies in 2018-19 after making financial contributions to them in the form of loans. But the mixture was quick to point out that he had no active role and was not even involved in the day-to-day operations of the companies.
The cricketer-turned-commentator added that he did not have time to participate in the day-to-day operations of the game due to his cricket-related duties commitments. He explained:

Robin Uthappa also claimed that the companies he invested in did not repay the money forcing him to file legal action. He added that he resigned from the boards of directors several years ago, but said that he had no role in these companies

Unfortunately, these companies failed to repay the money I lent them, which led me to file legal action, which is currently in court. “When the provident fund authorities issued notices demanding payment of dues, my legal team responded, asserting that I had no role in these companies and submitting documents from the companies themselves confirming my non-participation.”
Even though he had no role in the companies, the provident fund authorities had taken action against him, Robin Uthappa concluded by saying.
